The health and safety of our handlers and canines is our number one priority. We work safe to ensure that no one gets hurt and everyone goes home safe. Since inception, Intercept K9 has ZERO injuries and ZERO lost time.
Our handlers and canines all undergo regular, highly specialized training. We employ only handlers with extensive canine experience with backgrounds including police services, Canada Corrections and Canada Border Services. All of our canines are trained using only real narcotics and explosives – we do not train with pseudo products.
It is our standard practise to provide two dogs per handler to ensure we maximize search efficiency. The work is mentally and physically demanding on the dogs; and so to maintain their health, well being and search effectiviness, they need regular breaks. By providing two dogs per handler, we ensure the client is not paying for the dogs’ downtime.
We are licensed under the Security Services Act of British Columbia and are authorized to use dogs for the purpose of security work. All of our handlers hold valid BC Security Workers’ licenses and all canine teams must pass a yearly certification held by the Justice Institute of BC*.
